After almost one year of traveling both internationally and nationally (including a cross-country roadtrip from New York to Seattle and back), I’ve finally settled down for the time being in Boston, Massachusetts. A huge transition from my hometown of Brooklyn, but living in a more manageable city will give me more time and bandwidth to concentrate on my two passions: writing and teaching yoga.

Check out my updated schedule to see where I’ll be teaching!

We’re trying to amp up the Ashtanga Yoga program over at Prema Yoga, so I’ll be teaching a Led Ashtanga Class (Full Primary Series) on Sunday as a trial. So come on by 236 Carroll Street @ Court, October 24, 3pm! This will be a great way for people who are curious about this type of yoga to try it in a non-intimidating environment.

This post doesn’t directly relate to yoga, but it directly relates to me and the civil rights work that I’ve done, so I feel a need to discuss it. Many people–hopefully–know about the slew of deaths that have occurred in the past few months that can only be attributed to hateful kids, conveniently-blinded adults, and a complicit society in which anti-gay bigotry seems to have found a powerful platform.

The suicides of 13-year-olds Asher Brown (Texas) and Seth Walsh (California), 15-year-olds Justin Aaberg (Minnesota) and Seth Walsh (California), and 18-year-old Tyler Clementi (New Jersey), in addition to the murder of 15-year-old Lawrence King, shows that there is something new in town than what existed when I was in middle school. Bullying, whether anti-gay or not (and let’s be clear, there are plenty of other tragic cases that have nothing to do with homosexuality), is not old.
